Recording Academy Names David Grossman EVP
(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Recording Academy has named David Grossman as Executive Vice President, reporting directly to President Neil Portnow. He will serve as a senior partner responsible for managing business development, artist relations and long-range planning for the organization.
Grossman will be responsible for evaluating and creating strategic initiatives, and will serve as a key external interface with the music industry in order to develop collaborative partnerships and generate additional goodwill and support for the organization.
"With more than 25 years of experience on the creative and business side of the music and television industry, David brings passion and proven strategic leadership to this new position," said Portnow in a statement. "David's lifelong pursuit of music in a variety of shapes and forms has given him a balanced perspective, which will be a vital asset to The Recording Academy. I am pleased to be working with him and our senior staff as we continue to move our organization forward in a relevant and effective manner."
Prior to joining The Recording Academy, Grossman was the Senior Vice President of Television Music for the Paramount Pictures Television Group, where he oversaw all the creative and business elements involved in putting music into network and syndicated series, pilots and movies for television. Over the course of 16 years at Paramount, shows under Grossman's supervision have gone on to earn nine Emmy Awards and more than 30 nominations.
Grossman is also a frequent panelist on various industry roundtable discussions, currently sits on the board of Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, and is a member of several music organizations. Film Music magazine cited Grossman as "shaping the future of television music" in 2000. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
